VSAT Solution Overview

Our VSAT solution is comprised of products and services required for the deployment of 2–way Satellite based communications designed to enable video, voice and data applications. We offer various service plans depending on the client’s applications requirements and acceptable contention (sharing) levels. Our service plans are monitored for usage, availability, reliability and performance. Based upon the brief provided we would propose a shared link based subscription plan that could be sub-allocated amongst multiple sites, ensure security and enable Videoconferencing, Voice and Data communications.

The following equipment will be required at remote and central location to enable satellite-based communication:

1.Out Door Unit

        a.1.2  , 1.8 and 2.4  meter satellite antenna including 2 , 3 ,4 and 8 Watt Transceiver and LNB

Out Door VSAT Unit – 1.2 m Offset Antenna and Feed Horn Assembly. (Cross-pole)

 2.Indoor Unit

a.Satellite Receive & Transmit Modem

Our modems provide a simple and elegant “One Box” solutions are comprised of a satellite modem, IP router, TCP optimization over satellite, 3DES / AES Encryption, QoS/prioritization, Open PCI Slot to integrate additional applications into one platform, Adaptive Channel Compression, Application & TCP Optimization 8-Port LAN Switch. The compact set-top box offers the highest two-way data rates available, mitigates latency through  TCP/HTTP acceleration, utilizes turbo product code (TPC) FEC that offers nearly 200% more efficiency than traditional error correction code techniques, and automatic end-to-end power control to increase availability during weather conditions. The modems supports IP data rates of up to 18 Mbps downstream and up to 4.2 Mbps upstream. The one box solution has numerous benefits, some of which are Lower Hardware Costs (in comparison to having to install multiple boxes), Lower Operational Costs (Power, Higher MTBF, Ease of Management. The devices can operate in either TDMA , SCPC and DVB  mode.

Our VoIP Integrated Access Device (IAD) provides a uniquely flexible, cost effective device, that enables secure, integrated Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and data communications anytime, anywhere and with any wired or wireless network. Its’ patent pending technology provides unrivalled voice quality and dependability, making VoIP the best solution for optimizing performance. The IAD sits on the edge of your network to offer scalable last mile technology to extend deployment options and geographical reach. Consisting of a CPU, hardware, firmware, VoIP application software, it serves as a router, DHCP, Quality of Service (QOS) Manager, Triple DES VPN, Client, SIP proxy, SIP enabled firewall/NAT and analog gateway – all in one lightweight unit. To accommodate demands for mobility, also acts as a wireless access point (depending on model), allowing you to easily connect phones, fax machines and laptops or create a converged wireless network infrastructure.

It accommodates four FXS ports (analogue phone ports) for connecting regular analog telephones, fax machines, dial-up modems from a PC or laptops for internal communications via an internal VoIP network.

Please see Appendix section for full technical specifications of the VoIP systems.

The Outdoor Unit provides connectivity to the Remotes sites via Satellite. The Interface to the customer LAN / HUB equipment (not supplied) is through the supplied Indoor IP interface unit and VoIP Interface Equipment.

Sample Network Configurations

The following diagram illustrates typical configuration.

The following diagram illustrates a secure network configuration.

Notes:

  • Additional levels of security can be implemented within the clients firewall.
  • Virtual Private Networks (VPN) configurations use public IP’s and VPN servers at each site with either shared or dedicated subscription plans.
  • Satellite Private Networks (SPN) use private IP addresses with NO direct access to the Internet only with dedicated subscription plans. Access to the Internet can be configured through a local gateway within the firewall for central access and control of any authorized IP’s.

Network Management System (NMS) & Client Portal

Our Network Management System (NMS) provides all essential monitor and control operations from a centrally-located network operations center (NOC).

The iBuilder product provides all configuration and control capabilities, including the ability to send software and firmware updates over-the-air to remote locations. The iMonitor product provides extensive tools for passive monitoring and active investigation of network behaviour. Both products provide graphical views of network layout and allow all system parameters to be viewed and configured from an intuitive, easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI).

Scalability is a one of the major network management issues for large distributed networks. Our NMS currently allows networks to be partitioned as required taking into consideration, geographic areas, satellite transponders, or groups of remote sites separately, as appropriate.

Our NMS provides individual user login capability along with privilege levels to distribute monitoring and control functions across the operations staff as appropriate. The iDirect SNMP proxy agent bridges iDirect’s NMS into SNMP-based management systems. The proxy monitors all components of the iDirect network (remotes, protocol processors, Hubs), and provides both asynchronous traps SNMP-Get functionality for monitoring the status of iDirect network elements.
